ABORTION SERVICES

At Medical Options, the fee for abortion services covers all counseling, lab tests, medical screening, the surgical procedure, recovery room care, and a follow-up visit. The average length of stay at our office is 3 hours.

Abortions are performed by a licensed physician between 5 weeks and 15 weeks after the beginning of your last normal period. The surgical method used is vacuum aspiration which is a safe, gentle suctioning of the uterus. For first trimester abortions, you can choose local anesthesia, where you will be awake but receive medication to numb the cervical area, or you can choose twilight anesthesia, which is intravenous sedation. For second trimester abortions, twilight anesthesia is given. After the abortion, you will spend up to an hour in the recovery room where the medical staff will monitor your condition until you leave the facility.

PREGNANCY CONFIRMATION

Pregnancy testing is available Monday through Saturday. Results are usually given within one half hour. Information is available on all options from our professional counselors. Abortion appointments may be scheduled at that time or later by telephone.

APPOINTMENT SCHEDULING

Appointments may be scheduled by calling the office between the hours of 8:30 am and 4:00 pm Monday through Friday.

REFERRAL PATIENTS

Patients referred from other physicians or clinics are strongly urged to return to that physician or clinic for follow-up, regular examination, birth control or family planning. With the patient’s written permission, a medical report will be sent to her personal physician or clinic in order to keep her records current.
